EPA Emerging Pathogen Guidance Update

KENNELSOL® and KENNELSOL® HC

May 26, 2026

We are writing to all of our customers and distributor partners to provide our latest update regarding disinfecting agents for emerging pathogens.

We are pleased to announce that our disinfectants KENNELSOL® and KENNELSOL® HC are listed on multiple EPA emerging pathogen guidance lists, including:

  • EPA List N – Disinfectants for Use Against SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19)
  • EPA List O – Disinfectants for Use Against Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus (RHDV2)
  • EPA List Q – Disinfectants for Emerging Viral Pathogens (including Hantavirus)

These listings reflect that KENNELSOL® and KENNELSOL® HC meet the EPA’s criteria for use against emerging viral pathogens when used in accordance with EPA-accepted guidance and labeled directions for use.

Both of these products qualify for emerging pathogen claims per the EPA’s “Guidance to Registrants: Process for Making Claims Against Emerging Viral Pathogens not on EPA-Registered Disinfectant Labels.” Our EPA Stamped Master Labels were most recently updated accordingly on March 24, 2026.

KENNELSOL® and KENNELSOL® HC both meet the criteria to make claims against certain emerging viral pathogens from the following viral categories:

For an emerging viral pathogen that is a/an…

…follow the directions for use for the following organisms on the label:

Enveloped virus

Feline Picornavirus

Large non-enveloped virus

Feline Picornavirus

Small non-enveloped virus

Canine Parvovirus

Accordingly, KENNELSOL® and KENNELSOL® HC have demonstrated effectiveness against viruses similar to those associated with emerging disease concerns identified on EPA Lists N, O, and Q, when used on hard, non-porous surfaces in accordance with EPA-accepted directions for use.

For emerging viral pathogen claims, KENNELSOL® and KENNELSOL® HC can be used in accordance with the directions for use against feline picornavirus and canine parvovirus, as specified on the EPA Stamped Master Labels and EPA emerging viral pathogen guidance.

Please refer to applicable EPA and public health guidance documents for additional pathogen-specific information. Please reach out with any questions or concerns you may have.
