FAQs
What is the shelf-life of SKUNKAWAY before activating?
Shelf life is at least 2 years if bottle is unopened (so powder stays dry) and kept away from high heat.
What is the shelf-life after activating the product by adding water?
Shelf life is about 7 days if the mixed solution is bottled tight, kept out of the sun, and kept at room temperature or below.
How far will a 500 ml bottle of SKUNKAWAY go?
Each bottle of activated SKUNKAWAY solution is enough to easily treat on average multiple large dogs (dependent upon how much of a dog’s coat has been skunked). Usually only about 1/4 (or less) of a dog’s coat gets a big blast compared to the rest of the body (usually hind quarters and/or head).
How long should the solution be left on a dog (or cat) before hosing or washing?
The solution can be left to dry without any rinsing. In the usual case, let your pet dry for at least an hour, or overnight, and then wash or rinse. Spraying a second time will not be irritating to a pet’s skin or coat or to your own hands. You may also follow-up by shampooing with SKUNKAWAY Shampoo (also with NF-7 technology) for further effectiveness if needed.
Is there a danger of ingestion or eye irritation, and is it toxic?
The solution may be slightly irritating to eyes and mucous membranes. To avoid possible complications it is best when treating the head to: (1) either saturate a cloth and wipe the face with the cloth, or (2) spray the solution from the side with a hand protecting the eyes. Avoid ingestion of the powdered solution. All ingredients are FDA GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe). There are no known topical effects.
Will the solution bleach clothing?
No, the spray will not bleach clothing. SKUNKAWAY is bleach and solvent-free, biodegradable, and non-staining.
Will the solution discolor fur?
SKUNKAWAY may temporarily discolor (a yellow tinge) fur of thick white hair coats as the solution oxidizes heavier oils that may have built up deep in the fur near the skin. This will wash out after a few shampoos.
Are there any other applications for the Spray?
SKUNKAWAY has been developed for use on pets, clothing, and secondary surfaces such as car seats, camping and hunting gear, carpets, and fabrics.
